How are you? Como estas?
Students in Sra. Moehlmann's 3rd grade Spanish class created comic strips to show someone who is hurt or not feeling well. Next they came to the Media Center to record their voices reading the speech bubbles. The class then listened and watched the comic strips. You can enjoy their presentation below (make sure your volume is turned up)!

Authors All Around
I am so proud of all the students in Ms. Wall's 2nd grade class who hosted an Author Share Celebration for their families in the Media Center yesterday. Each student shared a digital story they created with Zooburst or Photostory (free Microsoft program download). First, students wrote personal narratives and "How-To" pieces in the classroom. Then students worked in the Media Center to turn their writing into digital stories. They had to analyze their writing and break it up into logical pages with illustrations or pictures to match. Students using the Zooburst website completed all the typing and search for pictures on their own. Students using Photostory recorded their voices and worked on using inflection and expression. Ms. Wall and I were thrilled to have so many families join us for this special event! The Zooburst books can be viewed in this post. The Photostory books are underneath the pictures below.

Little Red Riding Hood
The young actors below are from Mrs. Childress' K/1 class. As part of their classroom study of fairy tales, these students met with me in the Media Center to participate in a reader's theater group. We learned the words script, characters, narrator and setting while reading Little Red Riding Hood. We also learned it was important to say our lines, "loud and proud" so that the audience can hear us. Thank you to our classmates for being a wonderful audience. Please enjoy our performance below!

Graphing in the Media Center!
2nd graders in Mrs. Wall's class learned how to use the graphing site Create a Graph (powered by the National Center for Educational Statistics). Students used a tally sheet to predict the number of books in a group found in the Media Center. Then the students actually counted the number of books in each group. They used their tally sheets to create the double bar graphs below. The students had to import all of their data as well as label their graphs correctly. Great job, second graders!

ZooBurst!
Mrs. Wall's 2nd graders have been working on personal narratives during Writing. After the students wrote about 1 event in their lives, we used ZooBurst to create our own 3-D pop-up books. The students worked very hard and would like to share their final products with you!
